This is really great news. I've been loving the current alternate universe storyline and i agree that there is a much wider scope for stories. I look forward to see what's coming up.

And hey, you even managed to make Mikela seem interesting! Not an easy thing to do if you have to stick to movie continiuity...

I think you've hit the nail on the head there. There's only so much you can do with two hours worth of live action film to chew on! And wow, sales must be holding up if you've planned that far ahead, which is also cheering. I'll be sticking around come what may, anyhow! I am cheered that younger readers have latched onto TFs in the way they have. I have myself often pondered whether the Power-Rangers style direction of the toyline has erroded the longevity of TFs amongst kids today. I know the world's moved on, but the original line lasted 7yrs in the US and 8 over here, Beast Wars did 3 (and probably could have done more),but these days it does seem a bit like reinvention for reinventions sake of late, with all these endless rebootings (RID/Armada/Energon/Cybertron/Alternators/Classics/Masterpiece/Movie/Animated...).Sigh.I must be getting old...I just think it'd be nice to have something that sticks around longer than five minutes that you can get into and appreciate a bit more.

Best First -- I wouldn't go as far as to call it permanent, but certainly we'll be staying in the Twilight's Last Gleaming continuity at least until issue #26, which as far as I've got stories mapped out. That should bring us up to the release of the new movie in Summer 09, then we'll see.

Simon -- thanks for the vote of confidece in the alternate universe storyline. I think you'll see it'll give us the freedom to go where 'official' movie-verse stuff just can't, and really build something cohesive in terms of story arc and character development. As far as I know, and based on the mag's steady and decently rounded readership tally, we must be doing something right story-wise, for all ages!

Hey Simon, its been a while since I've had my tuppence ha'penny worth on your blog. So here goes! I am enjoying the new UK strip and it would seem you are too, as this alternate movie-verse has given the strip a bit more of an identity. Its been good to see a rotating roster of talent on the title, too! Best First seems concerned that the alternate reality may limit the appeal, but I think its doing the trick - I'm sure some of the readership will be familiar with alernate universe stuff anyway. Or at least they will be if they've been watching Doctor Who on a Saturday! Just to play devils avocado, does the UK strip get much mention from the younger readers of the comic? I have noticed that the letters page is full of enthusiasm for favourite characters and so forth, but not much mention of the content (!).

So... is that a permenant switch to an elternate reality? Or a 'for the time being' change? Quite keen on the idea personally but sounds like it could limit the market appeal of the title a bit.
