Madman, purveyors of Transformers DVDs and apparel down under, are set to release (on June 27) not only their Special Edition of the Transformers (animated) movie but also their Transformers The Complete Collection DVD boxset (featuring the entire G1 animated TV series on 17 discs in a special edition box). The latter release comes complete with an exclusive comic, featuring an all-new strip set between the end of Season 2 and the beginning of Transformers The Movie. Written by myself, with breathtaking art from Nick Roche, the comic harks back to both the original animated series (in style and content) and also the look and feel of the original Marvel UK comic (both Nick and I viewed it as something of a homage to that bygone age). Looks good.

The colors (mainly from Hot Rod and the cassettes whos names I forgotten cos they weren’t that cmmonly shown) sorta remind me of opal fruits (or whatever they’re called now)

  2. carnivac says:

By the way. Any chance of us being able to get the comic? Or do we gotta import the entire set?

  3. simon furman says:

As far as I know, the comic is only available with the box set. Down the line, who knows?

The cassettes pictured are: Ratbat, Beastbox, Overkill, Squawktalk and Slugfest.

Looks top notch, but then Nick’s work always does. Looks like I shall have to add this set to my “To Buy” list.

Ah yeah I knew Ratbat. Featured greatly in the US Marvel comics. Always found his rise to power a bit strange.

Thanks Mr. Furman, for doing something for us Aussies.
Now if only you could give Windcharger a Spotlight I’d be your biggest fan ever!

  8. simon furman says:

    Colours are by Josh Burcham.

  9. simon furman says:

Windcharger Spotlight? Anything’s possible, I suppose.

  10. Mark Hall says:

Wonders if there is a way for those of us none Ozzie to get thier mits on it.

I’m sure it’s possible to order the DVD box set. But I doubt you can just snag a copy of the comic. Although there’s always ebay.
