SCRIPT (W)RAP

Haven’t done one of these in a while, so here (for your delectation) is my post-script perambulations on Transformers Devastation #4 (as spoiler-free as I can make ’em). Big, big dust up this issue, as pretty much all the Autobots (Optimus Prime included) take on Sixshot. Apart from some pretty spectacular pyrotechnics and some crunching action (not everyone gets out unscathed, I’m warning you), what makes this battle notable is that the world is watching. It’s been coming ever since Sixshot arrived on Earth and his actions in Devastation #1-3 have kind of made it inevitable, but at last the general populace of Earth gets to see giant robot vs giant robot ‘live at five.’ Trust me, nothing will ever be the same again in the IDW/TF-verse. Oh, and Hot Rod and Wheeljack find that time (of which they had plenty in issue #1) is tick, ticking away, both for themselves (due to the unwanted attentions of the Headmasters) and for poor old Ironhide (for whom matters are distinctly, um, pressing). And Hunter takes an irreversible step, forever defining his distinctly intertwined destiny with the robots in disguise. And we also (“there’s more?”, I hear you say) have a crowd-pleasing cameo (that ties in to both one of the already published Spotlights and one of the upcoming ones too) for you to savour, plus the full-blooded return of… ah, but that’d be telling. I’m that excited, I’d better go write issue #5, find out what happens next! Transformers Devastation #4 hits in December. For more details of all IDW’s upcoming Transformers releases go here.

Woo, cant wait for it. Any chance Prime calling in the Wreckers to Earth to face off with Sixshot. Will we be seeing the combiners soon?

One of your questions – yes. The other – no.

whoo hoo. im really looking forward to devestation. the whole IDWverse is shaping up nicely and the teasers in your post have shown how much its grown in such a relatively short time. i like the choice of sunstreaker for the headmaster stuff because A. I never saw it coming and B. its got to hit his ego to now have dozens of identical copies of himself running around the place not to mention being bonded to a human. i hope you milk that for all its worth🙂

Personally, really liking the idea of Hot Rod & Wheeljack as a pairing. The more I think about they do seem to have similairly dare-devil personalities. Almost like a seventies hot-rodder partnering with a nineties streetracer.
    Or maybe thats just me
And regarding Sunstreaker, part of me just has the thought that the mortification of being bonded to a human, pales next to the ribbing he imagines Sideswipe throwing his way once he finds out…

  5. `Straya says:

Well, at least now we know Ironhide didn’t bite the big one back at the end of Escalation… Or, at least, HASN’T gone over the edge completely just yet. You really have a way of driving us all crazy with near death experiences. And I still fear for Ratchet. And this whole mess with Hunter still has me on the edge of my seat.

September isn’t getting here fast enough. But at least this last year or so has been a good one for Transfandom… There’s always something going on, now, or something to look forward to. It’s great!

  6. bassbot says:

so awesome, and 2008 is getting bigger and better (see thread “2008” by Chris Ryall at the idw forums).
love that in dev. the world at large will be exposed to the Transformers Simon. Great move. Love the connections being set up with political figures. Really is gonna have big repercussions.

  7. simon furman says:

The introduction of Sideswipe into the main storyline is going to have major repercussions for a lot of characters, Sunstreaker included.

  8. simon furman says:

As Chris says, 2008 is going to be HUGE. Revelation, more Spotlights and… oh I wish I could tell you!

  9. bassbot says:

gah! we’ll just have to wait! so many announcements it seems… the actual official lineup of spotlights (not just intelligent guesses) and the BIG thing…
