With the official UK release date of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen now looming, Titan have unveiled the first issue of its all-new Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen comic (issue #1 on sale today, June 18th). Re-starting from issue #1 the premiere issue comes with a fresh new look and an all-new (UK exclusive) comic strip, which ties into the movie and spotlights the Twins, Skids and Mudflap (along with a whole host of other new characters, including Soundwave, Ransack, Ravage, Sideways, Grindor, Sideswipe and more). The strip is written by me with art by Jon Davis-Hunt, who’s undertaking ongoing art duties on the title! And as if that wasn’t enough, there’s more comic strip (in the shape of All Hail Megatron), free dog tags, free sticker album (and stickers), character profiles and competitions.

Whoever does the letter pages for Titan, I want to shake their hands! (And the guy who came up with the Walk-On competition)

The strip’s a blast, very fun stuff and the twins grew on me quickly.

    Two questions:

    a) Starscream’s guys in the strip, are they meant to be any Movie characters or just generic drones?

    b) The “whole host” list of characters, is that the list of who’ll be getting the strip spotlights next? Because I’d sure love to see what you’d do with Sideswipe and Ransack! (Especially Ransack, what’s not like about a Decepticon bi-plane?)

    a) Generic drones
    b) the spotlight more or less remains on Skids on Mudflap, but other characters interact with them to greater or lesser extents. Ransack is certainly a character that I’ll be ‘larging up.’

  3. Bass X0 says:

What did you think of the movie itself, Simon? I expect you probably got to watch it long before the rest of us could.

  4. Simon Hall says:

hello simon! i’m still an avid reader of the UK title and enjoyed the strip in this issue. a nice, character driven piece. good stuff. and i even got my letter printed in this very issue!

overall, the relaunch isn’t quite what i was expecting – the title still looks the same and doesn’t feel as bold in selling ROTF and its world in the same way that issue one of the first volume did with the first film.

and i do still think including idw’s movie-verse strips would sharpen the focus of the title. i’d prefer to be immersed in the movie world, rather than have stuff like AHM or Megatron Origin in.

anyway, its still going, which is to be applauded and the originated strips have been great overall. long may it continue!

  5. Charles RB says:

Yeah, AHM did seem like a weird choice for a reprint – the Sunstreaker plot, after all, ties in to issues Titan hasn’t reprinted! – but I did like “Barricade’s” view on the reprints!

  6. Simon Hall says:

Barricade is a cheeky monkey, is what he is! “Go to a comic shop!” charming. The apparent irony of AHM also being a reprint and available in TPB and ongoing comic format having passed him by… 🙂

  7. Aesir says:

I’d just like to say that I’m glad the TF UK comic has been rebooted, I liked the Splinter Universe, but I hoped you would return to the main movie-verse for the second run 😀

Are there plans for another splinter-universe in a few months time? like you did for the first movie

  8. Owen says:

Will Jolt appear in the comics?
