Comics news site Newsarama has posted a feature on the upcoming Transformers #81 (which picks up from the original Marvel Transformers series that was cancelled back in 1991). Not too much in the way of more details, but there’s a quote or two from me in there. You can check it out here.

Only just back from Germany and C.O.N.S (had a great time — full report and pics to come), and I’m off again — this time to Canada’s TFcon — their 10th annual Transformers collectors convention — in Toronto. TFcon is being staged at the Delta Meadowvale Resort and Conference Center in Mississauga, Ontario, over the weekend of July 30th and 31st. Amazing guest list that includes the likes of voice actors Garry Chalk (Optimus Primal in Beast Wars and Optimus Prime in Armada/Energon/Cybertron) and Paul Eiding (G1 Perceptor), and comics pros Joe Ng, Alex Milne, Dan Khanna and Marvin Mariano. I’ll be there armed with original scripts (War Within: Age of Wrath #4 & #5 – the latter with an outline of #6 – and Marvel TF #80, ‘End of the Road’, which of course now isn’t the end of the road, with the news that #81 will be published by IDW in 2012 and onwards. And I’ll have other exclusive stuff with me for sale/signature over the weekend, as well as a special powerpoint show featuring rare art from EJ Su, Joe Ng, Alex Milne, Nick Roche and many more! Look forward to meeting and greeting you all there. For more details check out the TFCon website here.

Announced live yesterday at San Diego Comicon — the original Marvel Transformers comic series (cancelled back in 1991 at issue #80) is being continued by IDW Publishing, thanks in large part to an online fan petition (big shouts for Luke and Ron of the IDW forums) and the tireless efforts of IDW EiC Chris Ryall. Transformers (‘classic’) will (re-) launch in Spring 2012 with issue 80 and a half, and reunites the previous writer/artist team of myself and Andrew Wildman. The reinvigorated run will build to a monumental 100th issue conclusion, pulling together and tying up every dangling plotline you can think of and a whole lot you can’t! What else can I tell you about the series? Nada. Niente. Zilch. So don’t ask. For the time being anyway we’re keeping this tightly under wraps. But it is going to shatter your trousers! Guaranteed!

Here begins a kind of quick-fire season of personal appearances, beginning this coming Sunday (July 17th) with another National Collector’s Marketplace at the Royal National Hotel, Russell Square (London), where (as well as hawking my general comics collection) I’ll be signing Transformers comics and selling original scripts for War Within: Age of Wrath # 4 & 5*. Event kicks off at 12 noon – and entry is free. For more details check out the NCM website here.

And then I’m off to Germany for C.O.N.S., for a full day (Sunday July 24th) of Transformers excesses in Willich, just outside Düsseldorf. Again, I’ll have stacks of original scripts for War Within: Age of Wrath #4 & 5*. There’ll be signings and Q&As galore. Who knows what might get revealed! For more info on C.O.N.S., check out their website here.

And after that it’s off to TFCON Toronto and Auto Assembly (UK). More details on those soon!

*Includes a free synopsis of #6!
